Tashkent, July 28 2006 - Law students together with legal experts and trainers of the Legal Clinic under the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED) organize training on the  "Law on heritage" in makhalla “Dustlik”, Mirzo Ulugbek district of Tashkent. Main objective of the training is to promote knowledge in the field of rights on heritage among the population.

This training is focused on a wide group of people of different age and determined by high interest and demand to obtain knowledge in this sphere of legislation. The issue of legal aspects of heritage was selected based on the opinion poll conducted in makhalla “Dustlik” .

During this event, people of makhalla “Dustlik” will learn about legal aspects of inheritance and get answers to their questions concerning succession issues. Round table discussions consist of theoretical and practical parts.

This activity would also be an effective way of strengthening knowledge and skills in this sphere of law for students-clinicians.  It is a first training for students-clinicians of such kind.   Student of the Legal Clinic, Ms. Liliya Kushlubaeva said: "I really hope that information we will provide them will be useful and essential during process of settlement issues related to heritage".

Ismailova Mashkura (makhalla representative, member of the Women's Council) also shared her expectations: "I’m very pleased that attention of the Legal Clinic was targeted on us. I’m very interested in becoming knowledgeable in legal aspects of heritage, and I am sure for most of my neighbors particularly this is very important  to learn concrete normative acts and their mechanism which regulate heritage aspects".

The training is facilitated within the framework of the joint project of UNDP in Uzbekistan and Legal Clinic under UWED "Legal Aid and Legal Literacy for Better Access to Justice”.  The main objectives of the project are to improve access to justice for people who cannot afford or have limited access to legal services, such as women, the poor, the elderly and people with disabilities and to increase quality of legal services through training of law students.
