Young specialists learn modern methods and practices of agricultural production management
A scientific-practical workshop on theme: “Professional education – basis for modernization of the agrarian sector” was held in the agricultural college of Bostanlyk distict. The workshop was conducted within the framework of national component of the Multi-country Capacity Building Project of the Central Asian Countries Initiative for Land Management (CACILM) and was attended by more than 60 participants, including deputies of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, agricultural scientists, farmers, representatives of local administration, international organizations, general public, journalists, teachers and college students.
Strengthening professional education in agricultural colleges of the country is an important step towards further development of the agrarian sector, its modernization through introduction and application of modern farm management methods, testing and introducing new agricultural plant species aimed at sustainable land and water use. Bostanlyk professional college of agriculture and entrepreneurship was established in 2002 and currently involved into training young specialists on mechanization of agricultural sector, farm management, electrification and automation of agriculture, environmental protection and etc. More than 712 students are being trained annually at this college.
During the opening session welcoming speeches were provided by Mr. U.Otakulov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on agricultural and water issues of Legislative chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Ms. Sh. Shomansurova, Deputy Khokim of Bostanlyk district, Ms. L.Gafurova, Head of the AgroEcoBiological center under the National University of Uzbekistan and others. Further experts and representatives of research institutions and centers delivered lectures and presentations on relevant topics.
Following training sessions the results of the contest for the titles “The best college team manager on growing new vegetable varieties”, “The best woman-farmer on growing new vegetable varieties” and ”The best woman on growing new vegetable varieties on personal land plot” were declared. The winners were awarded diplomas and presents.
Further workshop participants joined the opening ceremony of the “Productive-integration center on education and science ” aimed at distributing new varieties and growing methods of legumes and vegetable seeds, that possess valuable fodder properties and increase land fertility.
In conclusion the practical session on familiarization with technologies and methods of planting and growing new and perspective agricultural plants varieties was conducted. One of the contest winners shared her knowledge, experience and practical skills with the workshop participants. “Now we can learn not only the theory, - says B.Yuldashev, college student,- but also obtain practical experience of using new techniques and technologies, to grow new varieties of plants by own hands”.
It is expected that collaboration of professional colleges and country’s leading universities aimed at learning and dissemination of knowledge and practices of agriculture production management will further promote capacity building of young specialists and knowledge sharing on sustainable land use.
