| 25/02/2013 : Safe donor blood - an effective barrier to HIV transmission |  The blood donation section of the blood transfusion center is crowded with donors, and more are waiting for their turn to donate blood. Many are newcomers, and some are “veteran” blood donors.
- I have been donating blood for five years already. I remember a case when a pregnant woman underwent a car accident. She and her baby would perish if there were no blood for transfusion. I was happy to share my blood with her, and thank God, she survived and delivered her baby. Since that time she and her son visit me on the child’s birthday, and I feel blessed that was able to help two people. I continue donating so that to help more people, – says Ergash, 48-year old blood donor.

| 20/02/2013 : Your chance to design a global campaign! Tell the world how to combat corruption! |  9 December is the International Anti-Corruption Day. UNDP and UNODC, since 2009, have promoted global public campaigns to mark the International Anti-Corruption Day and make it powerful day of action against corruption. The campaign theme for 2009 and 2010 was 'Your No Counts'. The "ACT - Against Corruption Today" theme was adopted for the 2011 and 2012 campaigns. The 'Your No Counts' and 'ACT' campaigns encourage involvement of all sections of society in addressing the root causes of corruption and also serve as a platform for policy dialogue and action at national and global level. more | |  |

Results of the Regional Tourism Development Contest |  Over the period of two months from November to December 2012 UNDP Uzbekistan and International and youth tourism agency “Kelajak-Tur” organized contest named “Promote your hometown, region or district through social networks”. The contest sought to promote remarkable sights of Uzbek towns, regions and districts through social networks. More than 70 candidates from various parts of Uzbekistan applied for participation in the contest. more | |  | |  |

| 05/02/2013 : Promoting Social Innovation and Volunteerism |  Today the Alisher Navoi National Library will host a press-conference, which will mark the start of cooperation between UNDP and the National Library of Uzbekistan. It is encouraging to see that the Government of Uzbekistan is committing more efforts and resources to support youth - who are the vast majority of population - in their professional development, especially through the integration of ICT tools and innovative approaches.
