09/11/2012 : Training on “Stolen Vehicle Search Techniques”
More than thirty officers from Border Guards Committee, Ministry of Interior and State Customs Committee participated in a training on search techniques of stolen vehicles. The training was organised by the Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA) funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development. more

Navoi Free Industrial Economic Zone (FIEZ) has a newly designed website - www.fiez.uz with detailed information on a wide range of opportunities for doing business and competitive advantages that the Navoi FIEZ provides with all the necessary conditions for establishing industrial facilities with full production cycle from raw materials to manufacturing finished goods. The website also offers actual business proposals, which can be implemented with participation of foreign partners. 08/11/2012 : Visit to Russia: Sharing experience in the field of disaster risk management
Uzbekistan is prone to such natural hazards, like earthquakes, landslides, draughts and others which follow to disasters. The Ministry of Emergency Situations plays coordinating role in disaster risk management in Uzbekistan. As part of sustainable development disaster risk management requires a systematic approach to identifying, assessing and reducing the risks of disaster. more

06/11/2012 : UN is an important buyer of local products and services
Each year United Nations Country Office in Uzbekistan conducts procurements for over 10 mln USD as part of its activities to support socio-economic development and reforms in Uzbekistan. Analysis of procurement spending in the last three years demonstrated that domestic suppliers account for around half of the total purchases annually. more

UNDP Representative Office and respective UN Agencies (UN Resident Coordinators Office, UN Department for Safety and Security, UN Information Centre, UN Volunteers and UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia), currently located at 4 Taras Shevchenko St., Tashkent 100029 are moving to a temporary location due to pending reconstruction works of the current premises. more

The role of a strong civil society is enormous in securing social stability and successful development of the region. This is manifested in almost all aspects of the life of developed democratic states of the world. Today a special attention is paid to the development of civil society organizations, which is becoming one of the fundamental principles in the formation of a modern democratic society in Uzbekistan. As vivid evidence to this statement, there several laws and regulations were adopted to foster the activities of non-governmental and non-commercial organizations. more

30/10/2012 : New Dimensions of Inter-parliamentary Cooperation

To extend the dimensions of inter-parliamentary cooperation a delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan, comprising of Legislative Chamber deputies of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, representatives from the Institute for monitoring the current legislation under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Center for enhancing lawyers' qualification under the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan, and the Independent Institute for monitoring the formation of civil society traveled to the Czech Republic to learn from the Parliament of the Czech Republic. more

25/10/2012 : The National Council of NGOs of Uzbekistan is now up and running

The "Inclusive Employment and Social Partnership" project together with the National Association of NGOs of Uzbekistan hosted a round-table on "Strengthening the Role of NGOs in the Implementation of Government Programs to Protect the Rights and Interests of Persons with Disabilities and the Development of Measures for Implementation of the Norms of International Conventions". To discuss current issues the event brought together over 40 representatives of NGOs, and government institutions, including from the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the National Centre for Human Rights and the Ministry of Justice. more
