01/12/2012 : Regional meeting of Cynologists
Heads and instructors of dog-handling services representing border management and drug control agencies from five countries of Central Asia shared experience in dog-training, discussed management planning and ways to improve dog-handlers’ training in searching, as well as drugs and explosive material detection. They also discussed the idea of creating a coordination committee of dog-handling services from border guard, customs and drug control agencies of Central Asia. more

Uzbekistan is an active participant of global HIV/AIDS response - nationwide HIV prevention activities have been carried out in the country for over a decade. Since inception of the first National Strategy on HIV/AIDS in 2003, Uzbekistan is using a multi-sectoral approach in combating HIV, where governmental, non-governmental and international organizations are active players in the process. more
29/11/2012 : Innovation, Research and Development in Agriculture and Food Industry
Agriculture and food industry development are one of the major and priority directions of economy of Uzbekistan providing necessary foodstuff and raw-materials. Since independence production volumes of the food industry increased 6 times with annual 6-7% increase of agriculture production during last few years. Globalization and increasing competition demands high effectiveness of national economies creating a need for integration of latest technologies and innovations into production processes. The International Conference-Exhibition Agro Food – 2012 promoted the concept of innovation, research and development into production and processing of agriculture and food industry products. more

A series of events will be hosted by National NGOs and UN agencies during the campaign’s 16 days, in order to attract public attention to the need to promote and protect women’s rights. These events will be held in parallel with others occurring around the world. more
15/11/2012 : Milk Collection Center to be launched in Namangan
The Milk Collection Center will be established at a farm in Kosonsay district of Namangan region. It will promote welfare improvement and income generation among rural population, through collecting produced milk at market prices, increasing productivity of herd and improving cooperation between milk producers and businessmen. more
13/11/2012 : From Social Enterprises to Social Economy
Today, the First National Exhibition of Social Enterprises is taking place - "From a social enterprise - to a social economy". Organizations participating in the exhibition are working to resolve social problems such as finding employment for persons with disabilities and social protection of vulnerable groups of population, and more. To finance and implement these initiatives social enterprises run various businesses from milk processing to producing footwear, and provide a variety of services. Their experience shows that social entrepreneurship is becoming an important source of funding for social projects, reducing dependence on external funding. more
12/11/2012 : UNDP had the best presentation at the 18th Tashkent International Tourism Fair 2012
UNDP project supporting local governance received a diploma for 'Best Company Presentation' at the Tashkent International Tourism Fair by presenting tourism opportunities of Zaamin district in Jizzakh region. More than 250 domestic and foreign travel agencies visited the stand of Zaamin this year and showing growing interest to include this promising touristic destination into tour programmes for the coming season. more
09/11/2012 : Developing Civil Society Institutes: a National Model
“Inclusive Employment and Social Partnership” project was one of the co-organizers of the “National model of developing civil society institutes: experience of Uzbekistan” conference. Organizers also included Public Fund for support of NGOs and other civil society institutions under the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Independent institution of monitoring the formation of civil society, National Association of NGOs of Uzbekistan, Social Initiatives Support Fund, Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan Foundation and Regional Policy Foundation along with representatives of such international organizations as UNICEF, OSCE, Friedrich Ebert Foundation, USAID, The International Center for Non- Profit Law and JICA. more
