02/05/2013 : Palliative care: providing relief for patients with HIV
Successful combat against HIV requires a comprehensive approach from prevention to treatment, care and support. HIV infection does not necessarily mean sickness or disability – proven treatment approaches, such as antiretroviral treatment enable many HIV positive people enjoy full quality of life. At the same time, palliative care enables those of them who fall ill to relieve the symptoms and gain the strength to carry on with daily life. UNDP HIV Project joins efforts with the Government of Uzbekistan to provide quality medical aid and care services to those in need. more

18/04/2013 : Regional Director of the UNDP Bureau for Europe and the CIS met prominent women of Uzbekistan
The Assistant Administrator and Regional Director of the UNDP Bureau for Europe and the Commonweal of Independent States Ms. Cihan Sultanoglu, who was on a weeklong visit to Uzbekistan, met with a selected range of well-known and respected women who currently play an active role in various sectors of policy making, economy, civil society and business community. Specifically, participants of the meeting included a member of the Parliament, deputy chairperson of Women’s Committee, a representative of Trade Union’s Federation, chairperson of the Business Women’s Association and director of a local NGO. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss women’s issues in Uzbekistan with focus on enhancing women’s participation in decision-making and promoting women’s rights protection. more
