26/05/2012 : Zaamin Villagers Learning to Offer Community-Based-Tourism Services
Comunity-based-Tourism (CBT), also known as rural tourism, is found to be distinctive type of tourism as at one hand it offers tourists unique opportunities to experience national traditions of local communities at the grass roots level, while on the other hand it raises living standards and income generation for the rural families in the remote areas, as well as preserves their national and cultural heritage. Review of the best international experiences in CBT shows that CBT development gives rise to additional income generation for local people through providing guest houses for overnight accommodation, catering and tour-guiding services, organizing leisure programmes for tourists and selling handmade souvenirs and handcrafts. more
24/05/2012 : Young specialists learn modern methods and practices of agricultural production management
A scientific-practical workshop on theme: “Professional education – basis for modernization of the agrarian sector” was held in the agricultural college of Bostanlyk distict. The workshop was conducted within the framework of national component of the Multi-country Capacity Building Project of the Central Asian Countries Initiative for Land Management (CACILM) and was attended by more than 60 participants, including deputies of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, agricultural scientists, farmers, representatives of local administration, international organizations, general public, journalists, teachers and college students. more
22/05/2012 : Students stand for biodiversity
The International Day for Biological Diversity was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 1995 to promote understanding of biodiversity conservation and since 2001 has been celebrated every 22 May. The environmental education of young generation is one of the priorities of Uzbekistan environmental policy, and one of the objectives of this policy is to promote environmentally-friendly behavior among youth. Therefore many events have been held to raise awareness about environmental protection, including the wide celebration of the International Day for Biological Diversity. Nevertheless it still remains relevant to involve more young people, especially those who will be taking up careers in the oil and gas industry, into the activities which will promote understanding of the importance of biodiversity. more
