14/06/2012 : "Green Technology" Can Be Useful And Commercially Profitable: A Focus On Biogas And Intensive Fish Farming
Two training seminars on "green" technologies to farmers, private entrepreneurs interested in the development of biogas technology and organization of intensive fish farming were held in Namangan. Seminars also involved representatives of business support institutions. Seminars were organized by “Aid for Trade” component* of the UNDP/MFERIT joint project "Support to Foreign Trade and Investment Promotion in Uzbekistan" in cooperation with the Small Grants Programme of the Global Environment Fund (GEF SGP) in Uzbekistan and UNDP Project “Supporting Uzbekistan in transition to a low-emission development path”, with the assistance of Farmers Association. more
11/06/2012 : Empowering doctors to prevent HIV in children and provide treatment and care to the HIV-infected children
Prevention of mother-to child transmission is at the forefront of global HIV prevention activities worldwide. In this regard the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted clinical protocols by the World Health Organization on Prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) and signed a series of international agreements on this issue, including Millennium Development Goals. The Government’s efforts to stop HIV in children and provide treatment, care and support to HIV-infected children are supported by UNDP/GF HIV Project "Continuing scale up of the response to HIV in Uzbekistan, with particular focus on most at risk populations and strengthening system and capacity for universal access to HIV prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care in Uzbekistan". more
07/06/2012 : Eat Fresh Fruits All Year Round or Entrepreneurs Improve Knowledge in Cold Storage
A seminar on "Cold chain: from producer to consumer" for agricultural producers, entrepreneurs, who plan to build new or modernize existing cold rooms, cold storage construction specialists, as well as representatives different segments of the cold chain was held on June 6th in Ferghana. The seminar was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources, Commerce and Industry Chamber of Uzbekistan, USAID "Aglinks +" project with the assistance of a joint project of UNDP and MFERIT "Support to Foreign Trade and Investment Promotion in Uzbekistan", as well as the UNDP Project "Business Forum of Uzbekistan (Phase 2) ". more

United Nations Development Programme "Local Governance Support Project: Participation and Partnership" (hereafter LGSP) attended a conference on "Prospects of Tourism Development Capacity of Navoi region", organized by the Commission of the Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan on assistance to strengthening the activities of representative bodies of local councils, Council of Deputies of Navoi region and the “Uzbektourism” National Company. more
07/06/2012 : International Conference on Social Partnership
UNDP actively participates in the development of social partnership in Uzbekistan, supports collaboration between civil society and government through cooperation with leading NGOs. To ensure exchange of views and support the development of the bill “On Social Partnership”, UNDP together with national and international partners organized an international conference on “The topical issues of improvement of organizational and legal mechanisms of social partnership: international and national experience”. more

Ecological Festival in Navoi is only a part of the Eco Week which organized this year for the second time, jointly by the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Nature Protection, UNDP, UNESCO Office in Uzbekistan and many other organizations. Children Eco Festival has become an important event for more than 300 boys and girls from different schools, colleges and lyceums who participating in competitions for the best drawing, photo and poster as well as the best innovative project idea. The idea on how to interact with the natural environment with respect and care brings together all children’s works. more
02/06/2012 : The winners of the contests dedicated to the World Environment Day
The main theme to celebrate the World Environment Day is to attract more attention to environmental issues and to promote sustainable development. Youth make up more than a half of the population of Uzbekistan, therefore it is vital to involve youth in the activities which will make them more environmentally friendly. It is especially relevant to those young people whose future jobs are in the mining industry because if they have acquainted with the value of biodiversity conservation activities and attain relevant skills they will apply environmentally-friendly methods. more

UNDP-GEF and the Government of Uzbekistan’s “Strengthening Sustainability of National System of Protected Areas by Focusing on Strict Nature Reserves” project in partnership with the State Nature Protection Committee of Republic of Uzbekistan and the Main Forestry Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of Republic of Uzbekistan held an official awarding ceremony of winners of drawings contest “Conserving the Nature-Protecting Ourselves” at information centre of Surkhan Strict Nature Reserve (Surkhan SNR). more
