17/10/2012 : Road Map to Biogas Market
Government of Uzbekistan is paying close attention to expansion of renewable energy sector. In the decree of the President of the country “On priorities of developing the industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2011-2015” renewable energy sources are given a very important role in industrial development. In the light of these trends, the UNDP project “Supporting Uzbekistan in transition to low emission development path" worked very closely with biogas technology and its application in Uzbekistan. more
16/10/2012 : Improving National Legislation to Meet International Standards and Norms
Integrating international treaties into national legislation is one of the main functions of states as of subjects of international law. It resembles a system of an institutional action for integrating international treaties into national legislation, i.e. creating the necessary legal framework for putting the international agreements to work. In addition, the system of implementation involves the creation of necessary conditions for the practical application of international agreements in the implementation of the internal and foreign policy. This allows the sovereign states to identify and retain not only their obligations under international law, but also their rights in its relations with other states and the international community as a whole. more
16/10/2012 : Increasing community participation in environmental protection
In last two-three decades, the Saiga antelope has experienced a 95% reduction in population. This is the highest decline rate among mammals. Urgent action is needed to halt and reverse this process. To be efficient, however, environmental protection should include community participation. The conservation of wildlife should be benefiting for both wildlife and local people; otherwise the local population will not support the environmental protection activities. It is therefore important to disseminate information on the role of the Saiga antelopes for local communities among the local population, thus engaging local people in conservation. more

Namangan footwear producers’ trip to Turkey took place in a spirit of sharing experiences. Based on the trip result and knowledge gathered, entrepreneurs begun to prepare a draft business plan for the purchase of the latest footwear equipment. The purpose of the visit was not only to learn the best practice in production and sale of footwear, but also to identify advanced technologies for use in local footwear production. more

Over the course of three days, twenty-one officers from the State Customs Committee participated in the training on customs control and clearance in the World Trade Organisation member states, organised by the EU-UNDP Border Management Programme in Central Asia and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development. more
10/10/2012 : Visit to the Turkish Academy against Drugs and Organised Crime
Eighteen officers and inspectors representing law-enforcement agencies involved in drug prevention activities from five Central Asian states participated in the study tour to the Turkish International Academy against Drugs and Organised Crime (TADOC). The visit was arranged by the EU-UNDP Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA). more
