10/07/2012 : Creating Pistachio plantations on arid foothills of Uzbekistan
A practical Workshop on complete cycle of pistachio cultivation on arid foothills was conducted within the framework of a national component of the joint GEF/UNDP/GIZ/GM “Multi-country Capacity Building Project of the Central Asian Countries Initiative for Land Management (CACILM)” in cooperation with GEF Small Grants Program at Galyaaral base station of the Republican Center for Ornamental Horticulture and Forestry. The workshop was attended by more than 50 participants including experts of interested ministries and agencies, research institutions, representatives of international projects, farmers and etc. more
06/07/2012 : Grants for the Nineteen – Benefits for Thousands
Considering the important role that non-government organizations (NGOs) play in development, UNDP in partnership with other organisations announced a contest for the best idea on how NGOs can support families that need the most help through social services. Winners are announced. Co-organizers of this competition: Social Initiatives Support Fund, The Forum of culture and arts of Uzbekistan Foundation, Public Fund on Support of NGOs and other Civil Society Institutions under the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mahalla Fund and the joint project of UNDP and the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Uzbekistan «Inclusive Employment and Social Partnership». more

29/06/2012 : We are pleased to invite you to Summer school on Human Development in Uzbekistan
The main purpose of the Summer School is to equip participants with deep understanding of the human development concept and its aspects. The course will allow participants to go in-depth into the latest development paradigm and its practical issues, and discuss Global, Regional and National Human Development Reports. The Summer School will consist of two parts: on-line module (July 17 – August 24, 2012) and in-residence module (September 24-26, 2012, Samarkand city). more

"Inclusive Employment and Social Partnership" project announces a contest for journalists "Social Partnership: to make a step forward”. Purpose of the contest is to have a broader and comprehensive coverage in mass-media the issues of social partnership - cooperation between the state, NGOs and business - in the field of employment generation for vulnerable groups. more
19/06/2012 : Towards solving issues of desertification and land degradation
Currently the process of desertification and drought is one of the serious environmental issues and challenges caused both by natural and anthropogenic factors and that should be promptly addressed and combated. The World Day to combat desertification and drought was declared by the UN General Assembly in 1994 and since that time has been annually celebrated on 17 June to attract public attention and to promote public awareness of the issues related to land degradation, desertification and effects of drought. It is a unique occasion to remind everybody that desertification can be effectively tackled, that solutions are possible, and they could be achieved through strengthened community participation and co-operation at all levels. To celebrate this day interested governmental and non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders organize various outreach activities worldwide. more
