14/05/2013 : Starting off the weeklong social innovation workshop - ITERATE
ITERATE is an eight-day learning experience. Twenty selected participants of the training will be working together and learn how to observe a problem, design a solution, test it and create a business strategy. ITERATE will help them to apply these new skills in their own projects and to share them in their own communities. more

Recognizing that no empowerment initiative can yield sufficient results without adequate capacity, UNDP is initiating a wide range of activities aimed at equipping the beneficiaries with basic skills and knowledge. Among such activities are: organization of training on various personal and professional development topics in all the regions of Uzbekistan as well as promoting discussions and debates techniques aimed at enhancing critical thinking and persuasion skills. more

Social innovation can be defined as anything from ideas to products and services that are new, meet existing needs in society, and create new relationships or collaborations between people. Social innovation is becoming increasingly important in all sectors of society, whether NGOs, social enterprises or public administration departments. This includes the work of the United Nations, where social innovation has the potential to engender more inclusive, creative or efficient development projects particularly at a community level. more

11/02/2013 : And the winners are! Results of the Regional Tourism Development Contest
Over the period of two months from November to December 2012 UNDP Uzbekistan and International and youth tourism agency “Kelajak-Tur” organized contest named “Promote your hometown, region or district through social networks”. The contest sought to promote remarkable sights of Uzbek towns, regions and districts through social networks. More than 70 candidates from various parts of Uzbekistan applied for participation in the contest. more
01/12/2012 : Regional meeting of Cynologists
Heads and instructors of dog-handling services representing border management and drug control agencies from five countries of Central Asia shared experience in dog-training, discussed management planning and ways to improve dog-handlers’ training in searching, as well as drugs and explosive material detection. They also discussed the idea of creating a coordination committee of dog-handling services from border guard, customs and drug control agencies of Central Asia. more
