17/01/2012 : Safe drinking water comes to Canal Yoqa
A UNDP project that promotes water efficiency in the Zarafshan River Basin (IWRM) received additional USD 74,970 from the Regional Water Partnership (RWP) Initiative - a joint effort by UNDP and Coca-Cola. The RWP initiative supports projects that contribute to inclusive community-based water management and adaptation to climate change. The additional funding laid foundation to a new mini-project on community water stewardship to increase access to safe drinking water and sanitation services in the Zarafshan River Basin. more
15/01/2012 : Zaamin offers new winter recreation and tourism season
The Resorts Management department of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme in Uzbekistan organized a 2-day information tour to “Zaamin” sanatorium (Zaamin district, Djizzakh region) for representatives of travel agencies and mass-media. The aim was to assess the possibility of attracting tourists to the "Zaamin" sanatorium for the winter season, and to discuss and obtain specific proposals for ski tourism development on the grounds of "Zaamin" sanatorium. more
10/01/2012 : The Border Management in Central Asia Programme Handed Over Radio Equipment to the Border Guards Committee of Uzbekistan
Today the EU-UNDP BOMCA Programme handed over radio equipment to the Border Guards Committee of the National Security Service of Uzbekistan. The equipment, radio communication units for the amount of about 141 thousand Euro, will be used at the Andarkhan-Avto International Border Crossing Point (BCP) at the Uzbek-Tajik border and other BCPs located at vulnerable directions of drug traffic. The equipment was procured under the seventh phase of the BOMCA Programme. more

United Nations Development Programme and the UN Information Office in Uzbekistan are pleased to announce a photo contest "Women’s Vision". The contest is open for amateur or professional women photographers of Uzbekistan who may participate in it with their photographs demonstrating women and men occupying non-stereotypical professions in Uzbekistan. more
17/12/2011 : Germany Shares Experience in Radioactive Waste Management
Specialists on radioactive waste management of three Central Asian countries - Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyz Republic took part in a study tour to Germany. Coordinated by the UNDP project on “Radioactive waste management and early warning systems in Fergana Valley”, the study tour helped to showcase the German experience on radioactive waste management and monitoring radioactive sites, rivers and radiation tailings in several regions of Federative Republic of Germany. more
15/12/2011 : New Centers for Public Services and Information Exchange
UNDP in partnership with the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and in support of khokimiyats of Djizak region facilitated official launch of One-Stop-Shop of Djizak city for public services delivery and three Local Government Information Centers in three major khokimiyats of Djizak region. The initiatives are part of the work done by the “Local Governance Support Project: Participation and Partnership”. more
09/12/2011 : Local authorities in Namangan are transparent and responsive
The One-Stop-Shop (OSS) in Namangan city for public services delivery and three Local Government Information Centers (LGIC) at khokimiyats of Namangan region – regional khokimiyat, Namangan city khokimiyat and khokimiyat of Yangikurgan district were officially launched. Mr. Bakhodir Yusupov, khokim of Namangan region and Mr. Jaco Cilliers, Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP Uzbekistan participated in the official opening ceremony of OSS and LGIC of Namangan regional khokimiyat. These initiatives were realized as a result of successful partnership between the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and in close cooperation of khokimiyats of Djizak and Namangan regions - within the framework of implementing “Local Governance Support Project: Participation and Partnership” (LGSP). more
06/12/2011 : Helping Manufacturers Make Better Quality Shoes
Footwear production has recently become a vibrantly developing sector in the Namangan region. There are more than 20 footwear producers throughout the region, with some of these producers already selling shoes to other regions and opening their own branded stores. The geographic expansion of sales to foreign countries entails ensuring potential partners and clients of the goods’ quality, and one way to achieve this is to obtain certification. more
